Legendary Moonwalker Buzz Aldrin
Don't miss your chance to see a legend of space! Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon on July 20, 1969 with Neil Armstrong as part of Apollo 11— the 1st mission to land people on the moon. He flew combat missions over Korea, has a doctorate in crewed spacecraft rendezvous from MIT and flew his first mission to space during Gemini 12 with James Lovell during which he also completed an EVA (Extra-Vehicular Activity) . Disney has modeled a character after him for Toy Story, the MTV Music Award is a statuette of him planting a flag on the moon, and he has made appearances on The Simpsons, 30 Rock, and Big Bang Theory. Mars cyclers will be named after him, be sure to come and meet the man who continues to work tirelessly on his latest mission— getting your ass to Mars. Buzz's new book “No Dream is Too High: Life Lessons From a Man Who Walked on the Moon” comes out April 5th and he will be signing it at the LA Times Book Fair across the street at USC at 3:40 p.m. as well! That event is free and open to the public.
ESA Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti
Samantha Cristoforetti holds the women's and the European's space mission duration record after her 199 day ISS mission ending in June of 2015 (overlapping for four months with #YearInSpace Astronaut Commander Scott Kelly). Sam is an ESA Astronaut and the 1st Italian Woman in Space. Her 'Futura' mission delighted the world. Her stay on orbit was made all the better when the Italian Space Agency launched the 1st Espresso Machine in space during her flight. We are quite excited to host her at Yuri's Night L.A. 2016 and help welcome her back to Earth! Don't miss this amazing opportunity to meet Samantha and hear her inspiring, out-of-this-world stories. She will be speaking at 7pm in the Samuel Oschin Space Shuttle Endeavour Pavilion!
